What if Bible study didn’t have to feel overwhelming? What if you had a simple, repeatable process that helped you understand Scripture for yourself—without needing a seminary degree or a shelf full of commentaries?
If you’ve ever opened your Bible with the desire to know God more deeply but weren’t sure where to begin, you’re in the right place.
I’m so excited to officially introduce something that has been on my heart for a long time—the ABIDE Method™ Bible Study Method.
This isn’t just another Bible study worksheet or reading plan. It’s the framework I use to slow down, dig into God’s Word, and allow Scripture to transform my heart. And now, I’m inviting you to learn it with me.
Why I Created the ABIDE Method™
Over the years, I’ve met so many Christian women who genuinely love Jesus and want to know His Word. They’ve attended church faithfully, listened to sermons, and participated in Bible studies. Yet many have quietly admitted the same thing:
“I don’t really know how to study the Bible on my own.”
Maybe you’ve felt that way too.
You read a passage and wonder:
- What does this really mean?
- How do I know if I’m interpreting it correctly?
- Where do I even begin?
For a long time, I asked those same questions.
I discovered that meaningful Bible study isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about learning to ask the right questions, paying close attention to what God has already revealed, and allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us as we study His Word.
That’s why I developed the ABIDE Method™—a practical, step-by-step process that helps you move from simply reading Scripture to truly engaging with it.
What Is the ABIDE Method™?
The ABIDE Method™ is built around five simple steps that can be used with any passage of Scripture.
A — Ask God
Every Bible study begins with prayer.
Before opening commentaries or taking notes, we begin by asking God for wisdom, understanding, and a heart that is ready to receive His truth.
James reminds us:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5, NKJV)
Prayer reminds us that Bible study is more than gaining information—it’s about growing in our relationship with the Lord.
B — Behold the Text
Slow down.
Instead of rushing through a chapter, we carefully observe what the passage actually says.
Who is speaking?
Who is the audience?
What words are repeated?
What stands out?
Before we can understand God’s message, we need to see what He has written.
I — Investigate the Meaning
Now we begin asking deeper questions. We explore the historical setting, cultural background, literary context, and keywords that help us better understand the author’s intended meaning. Rather than relying on assumptions, we allow Scripture to explain Scripture.
D — Dig Deeper
The Bible is one unified story. This step encourages us to compare related passages, identify biblical themes, and see how each passage fits into God’s larger plan of redemption. The more we dig, the more we discover the incredible consistency of God’s Word.
E — Embrace the Truth
Bible study should never end with knowledge alone. God’s Word was given to transform us.
After understanding the passage, we ask:
- What is God teaching me?
- How should this change my thinking?
- What step of obedience is He calling me to take?
The goal isn’t simply to finish another Bible study. The goal is to become more like Christ.
Why This Method Is Different
There are many wonderful Bible study methods, and I’m thankful for every resource that encourages women to spend time in God’s Word.
The ABIDE Method™ isn’t meant to replace those tools. Instead, it provides a simple, repeatable framework that helps you study any passage of Scripture with confidence.
Whether you’re reading Psalms, the Gospels, the letters of Paul, or the Old Testament prophets, these five steps will help you slow down, observe carefully, understand more deeply, and apply God’s truth to everyday life.
My desire isn’t simply to teach you what to believe. It’s to help you learn how to study the Bible for yourself.
Join Me on This Journey
In the recent weeks, I have shared each step of the ABIDE Method™ here on the blog and inside the Abide & Bloom Circle. Inside the Abide & Bloom Circle is where we’ll practice studying Scripture together.
If you’ve ever wanted to feel more confident opening your Bible, I’d love for you to join us. You can join us here.
Whether you’re brand new to Bible study or you’ve been reading Scripture for years, my prayer is that the ABIDE Method™ will help you grow deeper in your understanding of God’s Word and closer in your relationship with Christ.
One passage.
One step.
One day at a time.
